Earlier this year, Africa Sky Runners proudly sponsored the private flights, and Kruger Shalati generously sponsored the luxury accommodation experience, for the winners of The Bateleurs charity auction, Wings for the Wild 2025. This unforgettable journey combined the thrill of flight with world-class hospitality, capturing the true essence of wild Africa; from awe-inspiring aerial views to the tranquil rhythms of life in the bush, experienced from an iconic bridge.

Flying Experience to the Kruger National Park
The journey began at Wonderboom, where guests boarded our Cessna 206 for a direct flight to Skukuza in the heart of the Kruger National Park, with both our co-owners as their pilots/hosts, Mike and Nicola. En route, they enjoyed breathtaking views of the Blyde River Canyon, one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural landmarks, a fitting prelude to the magic that awaited on the ground.
Experiencing Luxury and Wildlife at Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge
Their stay at the extraordinary Kruger Shalati – The Train on the Bridge – offered an unparalleled vantage point over the Sabie River. Between early morning and sunset game drives, they soaked up the tranquil rhythm of the bush, watching wildlife gather below from the comfort of a luxury suite suspended above the river.
Exploring the Wild: A Unique Blend of Aviation and Adventure
While waiting to fly the winners back to Wonderboom, Mike and Nicola got to explore the reserve, with an impressive 71 bird species spotted including the majestic Ground Hornbill.
This unforgettable journey perfectly encapsulates what Africa Sky Runners flying experiences are all about — merging aviation and adventure to experience iconic, off the beaten track destinations from a whole new perspective.
Live the dream. Fly wild. Experience Africa, by air.
