A Cape Winelands flying weekend from Stellenbosch to Robertson
Our Wings and Wine Weekend is a fully hosted Breede River Valley flying experience from Stellenbosch to Robertson. The journey combines low-level scenic flying in a private Cessna 210 with boutique accommodation at The Grand Hotel Robertson, local transfers (in a London taxi!), wine tastings, and food experiences in the Robertson Valley.
Guests can choose between different day experiences, including cellar tastings at Weltevrede Estate, bottling their own Cap Classique, a wine train through the valley, olive oil and tapas tastings, or a wine and charcuterie stop at Kleinhoekkloof. The trip ends with a scenic return flight to Stellenbosch.

Why fly this route?
Flying changes how you see the Winelands. From the cockpit, the route from Stellenbosch to Robertson is not a transfer. It is part of the trip.
You track over the Franschhoek Pass and the mountain folds beyond it, with the valley opening out below. Theewaterskloof Dam, vineyard blocks, orchards, farm roads, and the long sweep of the Langeberg country all sit in plain view. It is one of those routes that explains the land better from the air than the road ever will.

Your stay in Robertson
Accommodation is at The Robertson Grand Hotel, a five-star boutique hotel in the heart of the valley. The hotel blends restored heritage character with modern comfort, giving the weekend a proper sense of arrival without losing the countryside feel.
Rooms are spacious and quiet. The pool area, outdoor seating, and dining spaces make it easy to settle in between flights, tastings, and meals. Transfers between the airfield and hotel are included, starting with a distinctive old London taxi collection from Robertson Airfield.

Who this experience suits
This Breede River Valley flying weekend suits travellers who want a short private escape from Cape Town without wasting half of it in a car. It works well for couples, small private groups, and guests who enjoy the rhythm of the Winelands but want to arrive in a way that feels different.
It also suits people who value the journey itself. The flight is not a 'gimmick' tacked onto a hotel stay. It ties the whole weekend together. That is the point of flying like this.
Experience highlights
Scenic private flight from Stellenbosch to Robertson
A roughly 45-minute flight over the Cape Winelands in a private Cessna 210, following a striking inland route across mountain country and vineyard valleys.
Robertson valley wine experiences
Spend the weekend exploring one of the Cape’s best wine regions through guided tastings, estate visits, and paired dining. Weltevrede’s cellar and MCC experience form one of the signature options.
Bottle your own Cap Classique
At Weltevrede, guests can take part in the Cap Classique process themselves, from disgorging and dosage through to corking and labelling their own bottle. It is hands-on, well run, and more interesting than it sounds on paper.
Lunches authentic to the valley
From Kapokbos Restaurant at Weltevrede to charcuterie and local produce at Kleinhoekkloof, the food is rooted in the area and served without fuss.
Wine train through the Breede River Valley
One of the optional day experiences is a relaxed wine train journey through vineyards and open country, with tastings and lunch along the route.
Olive oil and tapas tasting
For those wanting something outside the cellar door circuit, the olive oil tasting adds a different side of the valley’s agricultural life, paired with local tapas and produce.
