Discovering Avian Diversity: Birding Highlights from Botswana's Okavango Safari
On a recent safari to Wilderness Chitabe and Mokete in Botswana’s Okavango region, birding became one of those unexpected threads that ran through the journey. Together with our guests, we spotted and identified 71 different bird species during our time at two camps — from eagles and vultures to bee-eaters, kingfishers, storks and some of the Delta’s smaller, less obvious characters.
And the experience did not end when we flew home. Afterwards, we turned the sightings into a personalised illustrated bird booklet for our guests — a small memento of the places we visited, the birds we found together and the time spent exploring the wilderness.
